Impetus Engineering began, effectively,  with its principle starting in engineering in 1991; he undertook a full Rolls-Royce designed indentured Ministry of Defence Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship. He has worked consistently in engineering roles within highly regulated fields ever since, setting up Impetus Engineering in 2015, initially as a part-time - "subcontracting" - project but more recently, since CoVID, developing the business in its own right.

We're based in Benfleet, Essex, but can operate across the entire UK and beyond.

The principal has design and regulatory experience in Defence, Nuclear, Aerospace, Medical, Structural, Civils, Transport (TFL-LU), Electrical and Electronics. Initially a Mechanical Engineer, his knowledge of statics and dynamics lends itself perfectly to Structural Engineering. A personal development exercise led him to work as a
LV electrician for a number of years - whilst a road traffic collision put an end to that, he still able to design installations.
He was also Mechanical Partner in "Spinoff Systems" a specialist Electronics business, sadly now defunct due to the passing of the senior partner.

The principal has also had success in business development and marketing; growing a £6.7M "Medical Commodity" business to £11.5M in three years, and - using LEAN 6-Sigma processes - turning-round a failing service business (losing £40M per year) to a profit of £80M in 1 year on the same £160M service-contract based turnover. He was also responsible for the department gaining ISO9001 certification within nine months.

The principal has full Membership of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Associate Membership of the Institute of Chemical Engineers, with further reduced memberships of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Engineering Designers  and online only membership of the Institute of Structural Engineers.
